| STUDENT
TEACHING CLINIC
We have modeled our Student Teaching Clinic according to our philosophy
at WIN that students who are placed in a more realistic therapeutic environment
learn more quickly and build confidence and competence as they apply their
knowledge and learned techniques. While working under close supervision
with the general public and from the constructive feedback of the clients
and the supervising Instructor, our students are able to build on already
solid skills.
We strive to prepare our Student Clinic as a very safe and comfortable
place to receive massage therapy. Whether this is your first massage,
or one of the many you have received, you can be assured that we will
make every effort to deliver a positive experience. Our students have
been carefully prepared to communicate clearly with you, use procedures
to fully protect your privacy and modesty, and tailor the session to your
preferences and condition(s) within their scope of training at the time
of the session.
All massages are performed by Student Massage Therapists and are supervised
by at least one WIN Instructor. All Student Massage Therapists are receiving
training in Integrated Techniques and are capable of providing a general
relaxing and therapeutic full-body massage.
Clinic Procedures
The
Student Teaching Clinic is a critical developmental component of our students'
learning process. It is helpful if you are aware of certain procedures
so that the massage experience is a pleasant one for both you and your
Student Therapist. Please assist us by complying with the following procedures:
- First-Time Clients should arrive 30 minutes
prior to your appointment, and Return Clients should arrive 20 minutes
before your appointment, to allow time to complete a brief history form
and reflect on your intentions for receiving a massage. Please keep
in mind that approx. 20 other clinic guests will be arriving at the
same time, making last minute arrivals and changes challenging to accommodate.
We prefer to offer individual assistance to each of you and that takes
a little extra time.
- Once the paperwork is complete, please inform one of the Clinic Assistants
and they will direct your next steps until a Student Therapist is ready
to escort you into the clinic. The Student Therapist will review your
history and discuss your goals for the session, as well as give you
instructions to our changing facilities and explain draping procedures
for you to follow with the linens. Upon your return to the table, your
Student Therapist will assist you in getting onto the table and then
will professionally drape the linens so you feel safe and secure. The
session will begin at this time.
- During your session, you should let the Student Therapist
or supervising Instructor know if the room temperature or music need
to be adjusted to your preference. Feel free to ask any questions related
to the massage including questions about aches and pains in your body
so that you can learn along with us and be more involved with your massage.
At least once during the session, an Instructor will approach the table
and may have some questions for you or the Student Therapist that are
intended to facilitate a more effective session. Your feedback and cooperation
are always welcome.
- At the conclusion of the massage, your Student Therapist will
announce that the session has been completed and you may take a minute
or two to relax and feel the benefits of the session that you have just
received. You will then be assisted off the table by your Student Therapist,
and be directed to the dressing facilities where you may change back
into your clothing. Your Student Therapist will leave a Client Feedback
form at your table for you to fill out when you get back.
- Please support our students in their learning process by providing
honest and complete constructive feedback, both during the massage session
and on the Client Feedback Form. Once completed, please return the Feedback
form to the Clinic Assistant or supervising Instructor. If you would
like to speak with your Student Therapist and/or Instructor, you may
do so at that time.
- Please let us know if you would like to schedule another appointment.
Clinic Fees
The fee for participating in the Student Teaching Clinic is
$35.00 per session, and must be paid in advance. We accept cash,
personal checks (made out to "WIN Therapy"), and Visa/MasterCard.
This fee will be considered "Non-Refundable" if you fail to
cancel your appointment at least 48 hrs. before your scheduled
appointment time (as per our "Standard Clinic Cancellation Policy").
In the event that you arrive late for your appointment, we cannot guarantee
that we will hold a space for you. If you have forgotten, or missed your
appointment, we will retain your payment and may not be able to schedule
future clinic visits for you.
In the event that you are turned away for some reason that was our error,
or due to student illness/injury, you will be given a gift certificate
for the next available clinic session.
Student Gratuities: If you would like to express your appreciation,
you may do so directly to the Student Therapist.
Each massage session will last approximately 1.5 hours,
and includes completion of intake forms and a Clinic Evaluation by the
Student Therapist and supervising Instructor. Please allow at least 2
hours of your time from arrival to departure from the school.
