CATALOG & STUDENT HANDBOOK APPROVAL DISCLOSURE STATEMENT

The Western Institute of Neuromuscular Therapy was granted approval to operate by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education pursuant to California Education Code Section 94311. Any such approval does not constitute or imply an endorsement or recommendation by the State or by the Bureau. The Bureau's approval means that the institution and its operation comply with the standards established under the law for occupational instruction by private postsecondary educational institutions. The following courses are approved:

Professional Therapeutic and Sports Massage Therapist (PTSMT) - 1,000 Hours

Professional Massage Therapist (PMT) - 500 Hours

Instruction is held in a spacious, 3900 square foot facility which accommodates 50 students at any one time. Maximum enrollment in massage therapy technique classes is 24 students. Since half of the students practice massage methods while the other half receive massage, the functional teacher student ratio in technique classes is 1:12. In lecture style classes, the maximum enrollment is 35 students. A diploma is awarded to students who satisfactorily complete the requirements of a course of study. We encourage prospective students to visit the school and discuss personal, educational, and occupational plans with us as they consider enrollment in our school.

The institution, the facility it occupies, and the equipment it utilizes fully comply with any and all federal, state and local ordinances and regulations, including those requirements as to fire safety, building safety, and health codes.

The Western Institute of Neuromuscular Therapy has been approved by the Employment Development Department and the California Department of Rehabilitation. The school is listed in the Southern California Regional Training Vendor Directory servicing Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) and Trade Readjustment Allowances (TRA) clients. The Western Institute of Neuromuscular Therapy is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association Council of Schools.

The Western Institute of Neuromuscular Therapy has satisfied all of the criteria put forth by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) and is an approved provider for Category A Continuing Education Programming.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Applicants to WIN Therapy must be at least 18 years of age and have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent. They must be in sound mental and physical health and must be physically able to perform massage techniques inherent to the program. They must be of good character and free from drug and chemical dependency. Applicants are required to have experienced at least one professional massage prior to admission into the program. Applicants who do not possess a high school diploma will be considered on an individual basis. The Administration will review the applicant's academic suitability, review the applicant's history of successful completions in work, family and his/her participation in other massage or vocational programs.

1. Complete the Application For Admissions Form.

2. Send a non-refundable registration fee of $100.00 along with the Application for Admissions Form to the school's Administrative Office.

3. Provide documentation of high school diploma or general educational development diploma, or successful completion of two years of a college degree program.

4. Submit three letters of character recommendation (from non-family members).

5. Submit a health examination form. The doctor is to complete the school's Doctor Certification Form or an equivalent form.

6. Arrange to take a tour of the school.

7. Complete an interview with the Director and/or member of the Administration.

8. Demonstrate serious vocational intent and a willingness to commit the time and effort necessary to complete an intense course of study.

9. Be able to finance their own education.

Upon receipt of the completed Application for Admissions Form, registration fee, high school transcript or equivalent, Health Examination Form, and three character references, the applicant will be scheduled for a personal interview. California law requires that participants in vocational programs be shown able to benefit from the program. At the time of the interview, an Ability to Benefit (AB) test will be administered; this written test is approved and required by the Department of Education. All applicants are screened on an individual basis. If admission is denied, the applicant will receive a letter stating the reasons for non-admission.

Following notification of acceptance, the applicant will submit an advanced tuition deposit and sign an Enrollment Agreement. This payment applies to the tuition and is refundable according to the stated refund policy.

Foreign students with limited English skills may be admitted on an individual basis. Such students must demonstrate an ability to benefit.
